Ski Lane
Reminder to Boat Owners and Swimmers
- the 5 knot/200 metre rule must be complied with,
- the Ski Lane is set aside for boats towing skiers and only those vessels can exceed 5 knots in the Ski Lane provided they are towing a skier,
- no other boat or Jet Ski can exceed 5 knots
in the Ski Lane.
- Buoys and 200 metre markers mark the Ski Lane,
- life jackets for everyone on board!
- Finally, Swimmers need to stay out of the Ski Lane!!
Vehicles on the beach
- Vehicles (Tractors, cars, trucks, quad bikes, etc) are not allowed to drive on Hahei Beach except for the launching or retrieval of boats.
- Tractor and boat towing maximum beach speed is 8km/h(check those brakes). Watch out for our children.
- Please use courtesy and consideration to other beach users - park only within the designated area.

Noise Control
The TCDC has a 24 hour telephone number for Noise Control 868-0200. Please be considerate of your neighbours and make sure you are not the one complained about!
Liquor Ban
There is a total liquor ban from 8pm to 7am all year round in all public places including roads, beaches and reserves.
Rubbish Collection
Mondays (check local paper or TCDC website for public holiday pickup)
There are two sizes of the TCDC Blue Rubbish bags and can be purchased at the Hahei Store. Remember that only rubbish and recycling in official TCDC blue rubbish bags and green bins will be collected. If bags are put out the night before, you need to protect them from the seagulls. Rubbish transfer stations are in Whitianga and Tairua.

The Hahei Tennis and Sports Club
Bookings and Memberships can be made at Cathedral Cove Dive
- Family Membership is $100 per year (includes a key).
- Membership is from the 1st of October to 30 Sept.
- Casual bookings can be made at $15 per hour per court at the dive shop.
Please be sure to close the gates after using the courts as it encourages everyone to pay for the use of the courts and therefore contribute to their upkeep! |

Hahei Fire Brigade
There is a total Fire Ban in place from 20 December to 8 February. Do not light open fires. This also applies to fires on the beach and fireworks. A fire permit is required for any open fires, including braziers (not incinerators). Outside of the Fire Ban period Fire permits can be obtained from the TCDC offices in Whitianga on 07 867 2010

St John Ambulance
Hahei and Cooks Beach now have an ambulance each, Hahei for days and Cooks beach for night, this is working very well. We are always looking for more volunteers. If you would like further information on joining the team or donating please call Penne Clayton the Hahei Team Leader on 021 554 442 or during office hours on 07 866 3781.
Anyone living in New Zealand can become a St John Supporter. It costs just $75 for a household, which covers all members in your household for a full year for callouts. Westpac Rescue Helicopter
It’s great news that we will continue to have a Westpac Rescue helicopter based in Whitianga over the peak of the summer. They provide a valuable service and, many times, their arrival has been the difference between life and death. Hahei Business Association
Businesses in Hahei and the surround area established the Hahei Business Assocaiont in 2007. The objective of the association is “Promoting and Enhancing the Profile of Hahei”. They have produced a Business Directory – available from the Hahei Store and other area businesses.
Other initiatives are “Destination Hahei’ news/advertising brochure and the annual Hahei Tractor Bash.

Hahei Community Centre
The Hahei Community Centre is used for many local weekly groups, Playgroup, bridge, yoga, dance, patchwork and can be booked for weddings and other events.

Dogs
From 15 December – 8 February dogs are not allowed on the beach and its reserves between the hours of 9am and 7pm and all other public holidays from 9am to 4pm. They may be exercised off lead but under control outside those hours. All dogs in public places must be controlled on a leash. Please pick up any ‘deposits’ made by your dog. Be aware the dog wardens will be enforcing these rules. The fines are considerable!

Hahei Happy Hour
Happy Hour is the first Friday of every month from 5.30pm in the Hahei Community Centre. Bring some nibbles and drink and meet your neighbours. Everyone is welcome!
